Festive Eggnog

1 /3 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs separated
3 tbsp. sugar
¼ tsp. salt
1 cup whipping cream
4 cups scalded milk
Nutmeg
Instructions
Beat 1/3 cup sugar into egg yolks in upper part of double boiler. Add salt. Stir milk in slowly. Cook over hot water until mixture coats spoon. Stir constantly. Let cool. Add vanilla. Beat egg whites until foamy, gradually adding 3 tbsp. sugar and beat until soft peaks form. Fold egg whites into custard and mix thoroughly. To serve top with whipping cream and lightly sprinkled nutmeg.
Serves 6-8. Double this for a punch bowl.
