Ingredients
2 1/2 Cups Flour
1 Cup Tenderflake Shortening
1 Tsp. Salt
2 Egg Yolks (Keep your egg whites for brushing the top of the pastry)
Water ( see instruction for the amount)
1 Cup Crushed Corn Flakes
4-5 Apples
1 Cup Sugar
1 Tsp. Cinnamon
Instructions
Mix the first three ingredients into a coarse meal like texture. Then take the egg yolks slightly beaten; add enough water to make 2/3 cup liquid, then add to the flour mixture. Divide dough into two parts. Roll to fit cookie sheet. Cover dough with crushed special K or corn flake crumbs. Peel and slice apples and place on top of crumbs.
Mix sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over top. Then roll rest of dough out and place on top. Whisk the egg whites brush over dough. Bake at 400 F for 30 minutes or until apples are done. While still warm mix 1 ½ cups or less icing sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla with about 3 tbsp. Hot water. Drizzle over top. (Use about ¾ cup icing sugar and about 1-2 tbsp. water for less sweetness.
