Whipped Shortbread (Aunty Helen)

Ingredients
1 lb. Butter (2 cups)
1/2 cup corn starch
1 cup icing sugar
3 cups white flour
I teaspoon vanilla
*cherries, hazel nuts, chocolate chips etc.optional to top
Instructions
Cream butter then add
1/2 cup corn starch and cream well,
Add 1 cup icing sugar and cream well,
Add 3 cups flour, one at a time and cream well,
Add teaspoon vanilla.
Spoon or use cookie press onto cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 for 8 to 12 minutes, lightly browned on bottom.
Cool on cookie sheet for 10 minutes before moving to rack.
These cookies freeze well, stack carefully with wax paper.
